Requirements
There are currently no prerequisites for this course. Students should be physically well enough to carry out a range of patient moving and handling techniques.
Method of Delivery
The course is facilitated by an instructor from Medicore Medical Services who will use PowerPoint presentation to guide you through the course. The course is delivered through English.
Renewal
In order to maintain you qualification after your two-year certification period you will be required to undertake the course again. There is no refresher training for people who currently have an in-date certificate.

The Manual and Patient Handling course is comprehensive and covers a range of essential topics related to the safe handling of patients, including:
The Law and its Application: Understand the legal framework surrounding patient handling, with a focus on the Manual Handling Regulations and their application to healthcare environments.
Musculoskeletal System: Learn about the body's structure and how it relates to movement and lifting, helping prevent injury during patient handling tasks.
Biomechanics and Mechanisms of Injury: Study the science of movement, including how injuries can occur during improper handling and how to avoid them.
Flexibility and Ergonomics: Explore techniques that improve flexibility and ergonomics, helping caregivers perform tasks in a more effective and less physically demanding way.
Risk Assessment: Learn how to evaluate potential risks associated with patient handling and how to mitigate them.

Assessment

Certification
Upon successful completion of this course students will be issued with a certificate from Medicore. This certificate will be valid for 2 years.
